On this page we offer our readers a glimpse of the team at the Social Scientists’ Association that is currently working tirelessly to curate this archive and ensure its long term maintenance. 

The act of archiving involves organising an eclectic collection of memories so that a certain history can be reconstructed, preserved and disseminated. From a logistical point of view, this involves long hours of curation, meticulous creation of metadata, the painstaking manual task of scanning, thoughtful development of a website, and continuing to battle ‘ghouls’ in cyberspace to ensure the long-term maintenance of the digital archive. The act of archiving also involves emotional labour where we experience the joys and frustrations of uncovering the histories and stories of Kumari Jayawardena to make them accessible to wider audiences. We were particularly keen on developing a digital archive that is easy to navigate while maintaining international archival standards.
